Walmart partners with secondhand apparel site Thred-Up

-Walmart has begun to offer 750,000 pre-owned women’s and children’s clothing, accessories, footwear and handbags through their new partner ThredUp



-Gently used product have been selected by ThredUp for sale through Walmart’s site- which will count toward the retailer’s free shipping on orders of $35 or more



-ThredUp runs 6 of its own locations, as well as through larger retailers such as Macy’s, J.C. Penney’s, Madewell and Gap


-Walmart doesn’t plan to sell ThredUp items through their stores yet, but will allow returns from the e-commerce site



-The partnership allows Walmart to attempt to become a destination for fashion by offering customers the#throwbackitems they might be looking for



-Despite second-hand being a concern during COVID-19, the rental and resale space is huge opportunity for apparel retailers
